“Inhabiting” is an installation on Fotografiska’s 6th Floor space that include live performance, poetry readings, podcast recordings and painting by Joseph Arthur.
Guest artists visited Joe while he lived from January 29th to February 12th. Museum patrons were encouraged to visit Joseph and talk about the creative process.

What is it?
To inhabit your work
To inhabit a song
A photograph
A painting
To inhabit a story
Or become a ghost in a museum on Park avenue
Art has a way of inhabiting the universe
Just as the universe has a way of inhabiting art
Be fearless floating through the floors of your life
Next door is a church that became a saloon
How many times was I a holy man turning into a scoundrel and back again?
Inhabiting every person in between.
I’m gonna bless and desecrate the space
Inhabit the gloves
Inhabit the ring
Inhabit the fight!
Cause everyday is a gift
And a curse.
Let’s make it a dance
And a fight.
Art is a fight
Finding a way to some form of surrender.
To bring forward something bigger than you
Or me.
To celebrate the warriors of the past
And use that celebration as inspiration to help us fight on.
You must inhabit the creative process entirely.
If you don’t obsess, somebody else will (and get better results!)
Be willing to do what others won’t. Live in the space of creation.
Inhabit and fight
Fight and inhabit.
That’s the dance of art
Art is a trance mission
And a transmission
I want to make Art that sees you
more than you see it.
The idea behind the show is to fill the space with the spirit of the city.
Make a certain kind of (rock n roll) record.
Record new songs.
Make all the album artwork
Perform it on the 12th and paint live
As video elements and dance also come together in the mix.
Like all that jazz
But without the death.
Inhabiting the ring
And coming out victorious.
Making sure everyone leaves with a smile
Inspired to inhabit their own dreams
More than they had before.
In this day in age people are more concerned with the process of creation than the creation itself
In this day in age
This odd awakening.
All of us are creators
And movie stars
Artists and shamans
The process is the work
The work is the process
Inhabit is all about inviting you into mine
So that you may better find a way into your own
Creation is a battle and celebration
Keep swinging !

2020-02-02 : Rachel Ana Dobken came & made backing vocals on "Rise"
