Live at Eddie's Attic

8 Hours Records, the new JA's label, released on 2022-02-02 on Bandcamp the first concert of a series, to help finance the promotion of the new album "Rise".

This concert was recorded on 2010-02, and was available 12 years ago on the official JA website, but this version has been completely remastered (like the other concerts to come) and sounds extremely good.

The choice of this concert is judicious by its setlist, it's a "best-of" all by itself.

If you want to help Joseph make new music, listen to the show on repeat, or better yet, grab a copy now.

Some words from Joseph with this release :

"Benoît Perriard reached out.
After I made a post about losses incurred for speaking out against tyranny
Years ago we wouldn’t have dreamed
That being a musician would mean you better be quiet on such matters
But here we are
When the artistic community
Is either quiet (for the most part)
Or actively campaigning to limit the conversation
To restrict expression
To infantilize humanity to the point where even the information they are allowed to take in is restricted
For their “safety”
For many of us this has been one absurdity leading to the next
And to ever greatening degrees
To the point where, where we are now
Could hardly have been imagined years ago
And many of those who are standing up against free expression
Were formally the champions (at least symbolically) of such freedoms.

I blame my punk rock spirit for not being able to just be quiet about it.
For not just taking a knee and keeping my career on course.
The last years have seen me lose all that in a trade for my voice. (A trade I would make again)
And lose it to a degree that I never imagined it coming back.
I had a child and figured I’d just zone into parenthood with the energy that once was wrapped in music
And as far as earning a living was concerned I would just figure that out as I go.
Walk by faith and not by sight.

Then Benoît called
And everything shifted
Someone who was willing to work with me
In spite of the fact that I spoke out for freedom of choice
And freedom of expression

I had an album collecting dust on a hard drive
Not entirely finished
But close
And one of my best.
I didn’t know when or if it would come out

Everything happens from enthusiasm and no man is an island
It helps to have someone come in and push their energy through
Give enthusiasm in a world campaigning against you. It helps.
And I know there are supporters
But sometimes (and especially these days) the haters get louder
And those who would support you publicly
Become afraid to do so

Even after Benoît announced our partnership
The trolls came after him with knives out
They really do aim to destroy ones ability to make a living
New born baby or not
There is no mercy there
When a certain segment of the society demands you think
Just as they do
Or else.

So here we are
A couple of singles mastered now and an album set for release in spring

Benoît had the idea to release some live shows on Bandcamp
To help pay for promo
I thought that was an excellent idea
He dug into the past and pulled up this show
Which I happened to have in a desk near my studio
Here it is saved from the deep past
Saved from the attic
Eddie’s Attic
In Decatur GA
Near my old home of Atlanta
I hadn’t thought of it til now
But there are no accidents. No coincidences
The old roots are singing through the vortex of time
Trying to call me home through the machinery of music
The past with its mechanical hands
Reaching to save me (or at least my music) from the edge.

We hope you enjoy this show
And we want you to know by supporting it you are supporting us
Putting music into the world
And you are supporting humanity’s right
To speak against waves of oppression.

Love Joe

Thanks to Ehud who was helping me on that show in Eddie’s Attic
Thanks to the house sound guy who we will try and find to give credit
Thanks to Benoît for the enthusiasm and love
And thanks to my wife and child
Anna Sophia and Alessia

And thanks to you. It means the world."
